Hal Kern
Managing Partner
Professional Experience
Hal Kern is a Managing Member of Diamondback Investment Group. After graduating in 2004 with a B.A. in Business & Communications from North Carolina State University, Hal immediately proceeded to gain experience in real estate by working as a broker for Brown Investment Properties, a Greensboro, NC-based firm. Hal worked his way from the bottom up, with a direct focus on multi-housing disposition and acquisition services. Over the next several years, Hal increased the velocity and size of his assignments. Since the beginning of his career, he has participated in over $1 billion of transactional volume.

Hal’s success in multi-housing brokerage led him to the national firm level, where he served as Vice President with CBRE and as the Director of Marcus & Millichap’s Carolina Practice. Over the course of his career, Hal formed many long-standing investor relationships and was widely recognized as an industry expert. In 2015, Hal met Zach Tran while brokering a multi-housing land assignment, and by the end of 2016, the two had decided to formally partner within Diamondback Investment Group (DIG).

With his specialty in specific aspects of the business and fifteen years of experience, Hal helped Diamondback grow from a lean startup to a multi-division company over the next three years. Hal applied a pragmatic approach to company design and helped structure the business to run independently, so the partners could focus on securing new opportunities and continue acquiring high-quality, financially viable projects that provide an attractive rate of return for investors and DIG.

Today, Hal is focused on the financial side of Diamondback’s business, reducing risk profiles for investors, and identifying effective markets for future developments. He is squarely focused on co-leading Diamondback Investment Group into the next level of success, with best practices being a cornerstone of its approach. Hal currently lives in Greensboro, NC, with his wife and three children.
