What makes him a Power Player: One of two principal partners — Hal Kern is the other — in Diamondback, Tran has been the front man in several big projects. Foremost is the controversial Castleton Village, which Diamondback plans to build a mostly residential development on the 460-acre-plus former Johnson farm in Jamestown. Tran has held several meetings with neighbors opposed to the project and made several adjustments to Diamondback's plan that would lessen density and preserve more privacy for the surrounding residents. Diamondback has two other major multifamily projects in the works in the Burlington area — The Retreat at the Park and Burlington St. Marks — as well as single-family Huffman Point.
